let it snow, let it snow, let it penn valley?

that's right! its SNOWING!!!! and I'm not talking about a little dusting, its actually sticking and it snowed all afternoon! snow just amps the Christmas spirit up so much!
i feel like I'm in a Christmas movie!!!
can you tell I'm excited?
just a little.
OK, so today I went to the MIL's house and learned how to make raviolis, actually it was a whole ravioli party (in the snow! in case you forgot!) with Quincy's sister and grandma too.

we made a ridiculous amount of raviolis! we made enough for Christmas dinner plus each of us got to take home a box!

It was really awesome ...pasta, cheese, cooking, drinking wine, passing on family traditions, a cozy fire, and snow outside... it was a great Sunday afternoon.

OK this pic is super blurry but I still just love it!
o! and we made these little cini-mini-pin-wheel type things with the left over pasta dough... delish!

the crafting has beguNNN!! Woo Hoo!

I have some very sweet (and sometimes high-energy) nieces that come to my house on occasion and they love to bake with auntie Kate, their favorite part of course is picking out which apron to wear, but I only have adult aprons so they are really big (which also makes them so cute!) so i decided i would make some special aprons for them to use when they come cook & bake with auntie Kate. My grandma had a special apron that I used at her house when I visited her and I remember thinking that it was just so so special. so I am super excited to pass this on to them. here's what they are looking like:

they each have a little pocket detail and these cute p.s. I love you tags sewn onto them

(my favorite detail!)

next on the list: FINISH the paper wreaths I started at thanksgiving!!!

also, can I just say

has seriously been giving me a serious studio boost... the kind that makes you dance with your projects and totally let loose in your studio. its a feel good.

Film. Grain. and Cuteness.

I did a family shoot for my SIL Jenna(and her adorable family!) all over Nevada City and it was so much fun! well... minus the part where I didn't have my camera and I had to shoot like they did in the dark ages with grainy film...grrr... and change rolls as soon as I was on a roll, and ...sigh...(are you sensing a bit of digital withdraws?)(ya, it takes a bit of time for me to get back into the film swing...) Never the less their model-like-cuteness obviously cant be tarnished with film cause this is a peak of what I got:
oh ya, if there is ever a time you need a smile from a kid who doesn't understand the word smile you just give them CANDY!
and these... well I just cant decide which I like better... what do ya think?
OK back to editing pics and writing ridiculously long final papers about DaVinci. You know all this final business is really putting a cramp on my holiday crafting! What the heck?

tour of europe

last Friday was date night for Quincy and i and it was my turn to choose a prompt from this book so i did this whole tour of Europe. it was so much fun to plan and it was awesome watching it all unfold.
so i made this passport that had a little love note in it and some places "we were going" and a few pictures from our trip to Italy

I took him out to Cirino's on main street which is a super good Mediterranean tapas bar downtown. I told him to order 2 glasses of any wine and any tapas that sounded good to him. Once we were close to done I gave him the passport... he had know idea what was going on but he had the biggest smile which was awesome because I never fool him and this time he really couldn't figure it all out. So after we finished at Cirino's I took him back to our house and he found this:

I had hired my cousin Anna who was a caterer to come in and do a whole meal that was a tour of Europe, my mom had made some arrangements & covered the whole place with candles.

I loved the table arrangements she did! I took her roses, grapes, pomegranates, pears, apples, baguettes, cheeses, fabrics, sheers and just told her to go for it! and it was so beautiful! thanks mom!

The menu, dinner, dessert, & wine was amazing! I also made these menus for the table:

We had such an awesome time and to top it all of we got to spend the night in Paris! I had my super talented SIL Jenna paint this Paris scene on some fabric to fit our window in our bedroom and then just put Christmas lights behind the Eiffel tower.

it was the icing on the cake!

thank you! thank you! thank you! to all the talented ladies that helped make this night so perfect!

going to Mexico!

OK not in real life but I feel like Ive been going to Mexico the last 2 days while I have been scrapbooking our honeymoon. Its been 2 and 1/2 yrs since we were on that A.MAZ.ING trip but going through all the pictures, journaling, receipts, pamphlets, spa schedules...ahhh, sigh... it was like going right back to the *dreams resort and spa*.
So its been 2 days of straight scrapping and I'm about 2/3 done! I have fallen in love with 8.5x11 scrapbooking! Its just the perfect size for me right now, i have tried so many sizes! 6x6, 8x8, 9x9, 11x8.5, 12x12, 11x13... this is just finally the one!and I'm still challenging myself to creating without any more shopping and its amazing just how much product i have... i mean really its like i live in a scrapbook store...sad and great at the same time ;D My studio is also a total disaster but hey there is progress. so here's what I've got so far:

been loving using all these metal making memories pieces, i have been saving/hording them since i first started scrapbooking and now I'm finally "just USING them!"

been using a lot of sewn on pockets for all the ticket stubs, pamphlets, memorabilia, etc...
and this is where i stopped... i couldn't decide just exactly how i was going to add the journaling so i guess this is where i will pick up when i figure it out

scrapping this trip has made me totally over-the-top-gushy-lovey-dovey with Quincy, but c'mon is there a sweeter time to reminisce than your honeymoon?
if you haven't already, i can guarantee scrapbooking your honeymoon is the next best thing to actually going on another honeymoon!

Halloween... finally.

So I used a bunch of decorations that I had made for the "craft show" Jenna and I did and my house was COVERED in Halloween decor for the party. it was sweet.
here's the skinny:
Halloween Banner: printed on the computer, inked, corners rounded, & add ribbon:

Boo Banner: die cut pendants, die cut letters, & add purple twill tape:
*zip decided totally on his own that he needed to be in the pic! so funny. :D*

Boo Luminaries: cut down paper bags, stamp alphabet, & add Christmas lights instead of candles to insure I don't light the ceiling on fire!

Bat Lamps: bobbi-pin cheese cloth to lamps, cut bottoms into zig-zag, stretch material, & scotch tape paper bats to inside of lamps:

Martha's Tissue Pom Poms: accordion fold lime, black, and purple tissue, cut ends into a point, & fluff! *on a side note: once I started making these I just wanted to cover my house in them! they are so fun! I think they might get added to my studio in gold, silver, and bronze!!!! cant wait!*

Punch Cauldrons: cover lame bat cauldron with cheese cloth, ink edges, add ribbon, & add punch title tags:

*wish I would have got a pic when the dry ice was still smoking/fogging the bottoms of these cauldrons but I guess we were having too much fun to remember details at that point so just imagine lots of fog/smoke rolling and cascading down this little bar area ;D *
we also set up this little candy station which finally gave me an excuse to use those vintage jello molds I've been hanging onto for so long!

and now the costumes:
Claire-1984, Quincy & I-Paris and Helen of troy (zip not pictured yet was the Trojan horse! I made him the funniest little horse costume ever!more on that soon!) and John-Bill Murray from "life aquatic"

Randy & Angie- Cowboy and Indian

Mom- HGTV fan (so funny! on the back of her shirt she wrote "I love my contractor!" a shout out just for you dad! ;D)

Matt & Mary Ellen- Old West Card Shark & Saloon Girl

Brad & Alana- Surgeons (I think that's why we gave Brad a knife?)

and last but not least the winner of the costume contest by vote:
Terry & Gail- Cave Man and Woman (seriously loved the bones in the hair! the wig just totally made the whole costume!)

It was such a fun night! I think we are going to make this a tradition, the

Van Vleck Costume Halloween Party!

yup. its decided.
