a sad little story...

once upon a time there was a rookie on a back-ho...

who was also advised by his pops where "things" where and where "things" needed to be...

unfortunately pops was just a little off with where EXACTLY those "things" were

oops!
no water at our house for a while... and then when there was water it came out the color of that fabulous red dirt! which clogged all but two water sources.... hmmm
not so much fun.
: (
one project that turned out a little better was the hutch:
i absolutely LOVE this now!

it still needs new hardware (knobs and such) and glass for the front doors... which i temporarily replaced with mat board covered in Martha Stewart roll paper (can we say clearance! love that!) the real plan is to buy 2 pieces of glass and cut our monogram on the ol' wishblade out of sticker paper and use those as masks and frost the rest of the glass... mmmm... can you picture it? i see it in my head and it looks oh so pottery barn... ahhhh.... but until then these will have to do!

repaint-hutch-project...

officially checked off the list!

So MuCH pRojEct ProGress!

so the canvases i started turned out a bit like this ^
and i LOVE them! i have been hording these old patterns for so long! i T.A.-ed the sewing class my soph, jr, and sr year of high school and at the end of it Mrs. Miller said
"just take whatever you want..."

so I DID! She had drawers and drawers and DRAWERS full of old patterns and i took as many as my little arms could hold, i have just been waiting for the right space+project+room to do something with them
it was a little hard at first to cut into them but once i made that first snip it looked like a scene out of edward scissor hands! i have so many more patterns and canvases that will hopefully end up in the shop very soon!
oh! it looked like h.g.t.v. at my house today! so excited! we were given an old wooden hutch after we got married but it was really not our style and we haven't had the time (um or real desire) to sand, strip and paint it but today was THE DAY!
Quincy has been painting all afternoon and to be honest, once we saw how easy the whole paint sprayer thing was we added quite a few items to the "hand-me-down-furniture-that-will-only-match-if-we-paint-it" list... i think there will be paint for the next few days!

is there anything more attractive than your husband doing home-art-improvement-projects? i think he deserves a "super-thank-you-i-love-my-husbands-help" dinner tonight....hmmm... maybe pallea & chilled cava?

will post new house & new (completed painting) project pictures soon!

May...?! June?..?! July!

So somehow my summer has already flown by!
in short (very short!) here's where it went...
first there was the
2nd annual newman memorial fishing derby:
where there was lots of fishing,
boating,
derby winning!
and spending time with these cute little munchkins!
then there was
fort bragg with mom and dad
where there was lots of watching these:
while enjoying a bit of this:
and so much of this very SOOTHING sound:
and lots of laughs with 2 of my favorite peeps...
mom & dad!
then it was back to town to watch these 2 pretty girls
graduate 8th grade!
im in love with this picture...
does anyone else remember the way this felt? the very young, no responsibilities, so happy, careless, free, exciting split second between jr. high and high school ...
and then.... real life?
ahhhh.
GeorGoUs!
(with that fab English accent!)
we got all elsicake on these...
and i love it!
and no graduation is complete without the whole fam. pic!
then technically there was a grad party which us "old ones" dj-ed
then back up to little grass valley for the
fathers day week+end camping trip
where we did quite a bit of fishing
(yep, even zip!)
and then we decided to climb this:
um, yes we started down at the lake where we camp! can we say 6,500+' elevation? that will kick your butt even if your in denise-austin-in-the-early-90's kind of shape!
and it made eating all this:
feel perfectly OK!
i LOVED all of this too!
but now it is back to new house, new job, new diet modes
which is all very good right now,
esp. the diet, i bought myself a subscription to cooking light and i am in LOVE! i have been planning out all our meals so i only hit the market once a week and the recipes are delish!
like this one:
thai coconut bouillabaisse + avacado & mango salad + whole wheat baguette
and of course a little pinot grigio
(yes that's my wine in a mason jar! we are officially back in penntucky! ;D)
by combining herbalife breakfast and lunch plans with cooking light dinner plans i have managed to drop 5lbs! now its just a matter of staying on track, no loosing steam, energy, or inspiration to fit into a decent bathing suit at the end of the summer!
and the most recent development is this little number:
just a little sneak peak at the newest project in the new kreative space!
all i can say is that its amazing how much a space can change your creative productivity! ok, well more on that project soon!
so cheers to topping off June with lots of
COMPLETED
inspired, fantastic, vintage, adorable, stitched, sparrow, sunny, fresh, painted, scrapped
&
photographed
projects!
