I looked quite some time ago for a Jennifer McGuire blog and somehow came up with nothing... and then tonight I am browsing Ali Edwards' new studio space and she mentions Jennifer McGuire and I find her blog and then studio there are no words.... just go see for yourself. Her space is so clean CLEAN clean! I might just be jealous because I am going through creativity withdraws because of the fresh-semester-homework-load but it might just be straight jealousy of the fabulous-ness and organization and accessibility w/o clutter and wide open spaces of her work space...what do you think?

I'm thinking I want some new fabulously inspiring workspace.

New year + New semester = New planner

Well today was the first day of the semester and it was...well...lets just say its going to be one of those semesters that is going to use every ounce of will-power, focus, and determination I have in my body... but the good news is that this should also be my last film photo class! yay for coming out of the dark ages!!
So in the spirit of school starting I hit staples for some supplies and picked up a new planner... the selection was pathetic! Not that they didn't have quantity they just didn't have anything I WANTED, does that ever happen to anyone else? Anyhoo, after about a half an hour of staring at the wall of overpriced-but-cheaply-made-planners I went with this:

but I needed to make it somewhat attractive and I have been wanting to make a Donna Downey Inspiration Journal with some cute fabric and a jazzy button so I figured I would use the "look" and make a fabric cover for the planner. I used this tutorial, it was a simple project but if you are going to try using it I will just say read the instructions carefully...actually I found myself reading some steps over and over again... I guess its just the way the are written. This is how it all turned out:

And I finally got to use some of my rhinestone buttons! Another item out of hoarding!
I think a monogram on the front might be necessary... maybe a velvet Heidi Swap iron on type... not sure yet but I have a feeling this is going to be the last crafty project for a while so I gotta make it good! Well, at least until finals are over in may!

This weekend I started working on scrapbooking our trip to Italy, I have always enjoyed scrapbooking but this seems so different. I was reminiscing and reliving our trip, the sites, the art, the cooking lessons, the food and wine, the fresh perspective... all the goodness. I have never been so happy to have been such a detailed journalist! I had wrote down more than just the stats, I had the sounds, the smells, the feelings, everything! And translating all that plus the pictures into some sort of organized visual art was like re-exploring our trip...well almost!
still trying to find the perfect little accent or embellishment or something to jazz up my "winning" page... any ideas?
Again I am really loving this 8.5 x 11 format, it seems to just come together so much faster! And I finally found a subject worthy of all my left-over wedding paper! I have been saving the stash since the wedding for something special... I guess it doesn't get much more special than Italy!

finally comming out of hibernation!

Wow, its been a while since I've been to blog-land! But the hibernation was seriously needed! Christmas and New Years were fantastic but somehow I ended up with the achy-breaky-kind-of-head-cold... which meant lots of reading, sleeping, and tea drinking from the bed or couch... and that's about it.

For the last couple of days I have been getting caught up on house work and something a bit more exciting! Before Christmas I did a shoot for the lovely Ryan and Jen Fowler.
Here's a little peak at a few favorites:

Since it was so close to Christmas I finally had a chance to try the wrapped-up-like-a-present idea! I love it!

I cant decide which crop/angle I like best on this one... any votes?
and then there is the bright red classic Christmas bow:

What is it about a growing tummy that just makes you smile? :D

Thanks to Ryan and Jen for being so willing and fantastic!
