Eggs aren't just for breakfast!

   I really LOVE eggs! They are easy to cook in a variety of ways and I almost always have a carton in my refrigerator. But, my love affair with lunchtime frittatas started while Q and I where at this awesome cooking school in Italy a few years ago. The chefs there made it clear that Italians dont do eggs for breakfast but they do enjoy eggs for lunch with frittatas. The best part is: you can throw ANYTHING into a frittata! Left over veggies, meats, and/or cheeses are always perfect.

   Now its one of my lunchtime favorites. I think part of it takes me back to those lunches in Italy....sitting in the perfectly rustic dining room, overlooking the picturesque olive grove, sipping great wine,  enjoying the leisurely pace and conversation.... ahhhhh, good times! Anyhoo! We generally eat this great egg dish with a simple salad which you can throw together in the 2 minutes it takes for this dish to cook. So, if you eat eggs outside of breakfast how do you like them?

Travel Tastes: Duck Doughnuts

   Ok, lets just be clear: I'm not a "food blogger" or professional "food writer" by any means! I'm just a food loving photo peep that wants to share a couple things I've discovered and tasted along the way.

   So! This last weekend we went camping outside of Elizabeth City, North Carolina at the North River Campground and it was fantastic! The grounds were beautiful, the weather was perfect, and our camping neighbors were local Coasties full of great NC recommendations! Q has only been in NC for a week so we still didn't know which hot spots to check out and we gladly made a list based on their advice. One place they mentioned, Duck Doughnuts, sounded right up our alley as it included both fresh doughnuts and the beaches of the outer banks.

   When they said "fresh" doughnuts I thought they meant fresh "daily" I didn't realize they meant fresh to order!? My taste for all other doughnuts may have been ruined because once you have a doughnut that is is warm its so fresh you just cant go back to anything else!

{Our doughnuts being glazed fresh out of the fryer}

{Glazed with Coconut, Maple Bacon, Chocolate, Cinnamon & Sugar, Original Glazed, and another Maple Bacon for good measure!}

{No need for a table and chairs when you can eat these treats right out of the box ocean side!}

   The town of Duck is cute enough to be on a postcard and the beaches are great too. But, if your going to visit Duck do yourself a favor and pick up a box of Duck Doughnuts!

Now what?

   Spending a year creating a Thesis show and body of work was very consuming. The hours of time I spent was more than I've ever spent on any project for school before:

   Now that its all over, the scenes have been arranged, the images edited, the prints framed, the show goers have come and gone, and the prints are now stacked in my dining room I find myself asking: now what? Its such an odd feeling to have free time and mind space! As students we get so used to having the constant pressure to continuously develop our thesis work and now we have been set free! So, again I have to ask: now what?!
   I know I'll continue to shoot food(obviously right?!) but I think I will be returning to this blog space to push myself in creating new work to share and incorporating the new places and adventures I know are in our very near future. Our constantly changing zip codes(thank you USCG!)presents endless photographic opportunities as we learn the new norms of all these places. Hopefully it creates something visually interesting and worthy enough for all my followers time!
   So happy Monday blog-land! Off to get ready for our families arrival and a little thing called GRADUATION!!!
